What educators are saying

My students loved this resource. It really fed their creative side. It made things make a lot more sense as we worked through the work.

    Description

A six week 9/10 Drama unit on the history of western theatre.

This bundle includes lesson plans, resources, an assessment task and rubric all embedded in a unit plan based on the Australian Victorian Curriculum.

The bundle includes editable versions of all of the products.

The unit takes a brief look at the conventions of the following styles of theatre:

    • Ancient Greek
    • Commedia Dell'arte
    • English Renaissance
    • Melodrama
    • Realism
    • Absurd
    • Forum (political)

The first double lesson includes a powerpoint presentation giving an overview of the history and purpose of theatre with an engaging drawing activity which can be displayed on the wall.

Each lesson includes a roll call activity and physical warm up for a routine beginning to the class, vocabulary focus, some theory and practical activities based on learning the conventions of the style of theatre at hand and a performance task (scripts included).

The assessment task has the students demonstrating what they have learned by combining the conventions of 2-3 styles of theatre in a short performance of their own design.
