Description
In 2007, Oxford University Press conducted a study of high frequency words used in children’s writing and reading development. This study was the first of its type in over 30 years and the Oxford Wordlist was compiled from this study. These 307 words are the most frequently used words by students in their first three years of school.
The Oxford Wordlist Plus is a continuation of the next most frequently used words after the first 307. The wordlists on this resource go up to 400 words.
The Oxford Wordlist Plus should be implemented into every K-2 classroom spelling program as it allows teachers to differentiate easily and cater for individual needs. Inclusion of the Oxford Wordlist Plus as part of the classroom spelling program is recommended by Best Start consultants.
This free resource provides teachers with some beginning ideas about how to implement the Oxford Wordlist Plus into their classroom.
Education Australia also has other Oxford Wordlist Plus resources available for sale to help support teachers in the classroom.
