Description

Students become griots in this engaging project that touches on multiple skills:

*observing skilled storytellers and what makes them good

*reading authentic West African folktales about Anansi, Brer Bear, and more

*summarizing plot and identifying a moral

*using a menu of options to create a unique project

*synthesizing learning to create a polished and engaging video

This resource includes links to a variety of West African folktales, as well as a complete rubric. You can edit the document to specify how you would like students to create videos and turn them in to you (Flipgrid, Screencastify, etc.) We spend one full class going over the instructions and doing "Step 1" together, and from there you can decide how long students need to complete the project. You will be AMAZED at how creative they get!
