Description

This lesson plan template was created to help World History teachers plan their classes easily. It includes the following essential sections:

  • Unit: title
  • Chapter: title
  • Lesson: title (you can divide it into different parts depending on how long the lessons are)
  • Duration: Will it take 45 minutes? or 2 hours? 1 week?
  • Date: When are you going to teach this class?
  • Lesson objectives: What are your learning objectives? What outcome do you hope to achieve?
  • Why Is It Important: Write lesson objectives to explain to your students why learning about this particular time in history is essential to their growth and lives.
  • Essential questions: They could be two or more (you can always use the ones in the book to make your job easier).
  • Resources: Include books, links, worksheets, videos, or anything you might need to teach this class.
  • Pre-assessment: Review the previous lesson, revise homework, check background knowledge or create an anticipatory activity about the lesson about to unfold.
  • Key vocabulary: Always let your students know about the vocabulary they need to pay attention to in a lesson.
  • Activities and strategies: Provide a brief description of your key activities and strategies.
  • Wrap up: Create a closing activity to give your lesson a sense of "conclusion".
  • Assessment: Quizzes, essays, projects, essays, debates, presentations, participation, individual or group work, dramatizations, etc.
  • Extended Learning: Assignments for students who finish early or interconnected activities of the lesson with other subjects.
  • Next Lesson: Make connections with your next lesson.
  • Reflection: A diagnostic evaluation of the lesson (What worked? What didn’t?)
