What educators are saying

This was a great way to engage students in learning about the geography of ancient civilizations. Students especially enjoyed the foldout style.
Such a fun idea! We are studying ancient civilizations, so we start each unit with this map activity.

Description

Spice up your Ancient Civilization geography lessons (Egypt, Rome, Mesopotamia, India, China, & Greece) with these fun, innovative map foldables! Students love that these foldables are small enough to fit in their pockets or interactive notebooks when folded, yet open to a wealth of information. Each one opens up to 2 sections. In the first section, students will circle the location of the ancient civilization on a world map and write 2 facts about the civilization’s location. In the second section, students will complete a map of the ancient civilization using directions and labels provided. The directions and labels come in PDF and editable formats so you can tailor them to better fit your students’ needs.

What’s included:

  • A foldable template for each civilization (Egypt, Rome, Mesopotamia, India, China, & Greece) (PDF)
  • Teacher folding instructions and activity tips (PDF)
  • Student map directions (PDF & Editable)
  • Map labels (PDF & Editable)
  • Examples of each section of each foldable

The instructions for folding the foldables come with pictures and are very simple to understand. Students will simply cut along the dotted line on the outer edges of the paper and fold the paper in half three times. This is a unique, clever way for students to learn or review the geography of all 6 of the main ancient civilizations. I hope your class enjoys these foldables just as much as my students do.
