Description

High quality Common Core 5th grade reading comprehension passages with questions. Our reading passages have helped students reach their growth rates and beyond in NWEA MAP, State Tests, NAEP, Smarter Balanced, and PARCC.

There is no longer any debate about what is effective practice in today’s classroom; formative assessment, feedback, and student self-assessment around clearly identified essential learnings. These effective practices will help your students achieve at high levels . This NWEA MAP, State and National Reading skills bundle will meet your students where they are at help them reach their desired goals. This product includes 6 reading passages with 60 questions written at various DOK levels.

The quizzes are organized by grade level, NWEA MAP RIT bands, and Lexile levels including. The Fifth grade passages are written at RIT 201-220 and span Lexile levels 700 to 1100. Each individual quiz includes a robust reading passage(s) with questions written at various depths of knowledge and covering vast essential reading skills.

These skills include; word recognition, structure and vocabulary, reading informational text: key ideas, reading for understanding, reading informational text: craft, structure, and evaluation, and Reading literature: craft, structure, and evaluation. Each formative assessment includes a student self-evaluation sheet with strand/skill descriptors, teacher note section, and teacher answer key. The passages are all high quality original stories and/or public domain publications. This level/RIT band includes non-fiction, paired passages, poems, and fiction.

*60 differentiated assessment questions covering the following strands;

Word recognition, structure and vocabulary

-knowledge of letter-sound relationships to say written words

-recognize common word relationships and structures

Reading informational text: key ideas, reading for understanding

-read and understand non-fiction texts

-summarize reading

-determine main idea

-analyze literary elements of a text (plot, character, theme, and setting)
