Description

Do your students need a little extra practice with topics covered in 5th grade Everyday Math? Use this study guide in your classroom right before the End-of-the-Year math assessment! The questions are similar to the actual test, and in the same format as well. Students can familiarize themselves with the kinds of questions that will be asked, so they are better prepared for the test! Here's what's covered:

  • Unit 1: Area and Volume
  • Unit 2: Whole Number Place Value and Operations
  • Unit 3: Fraction Concepts, Addition, and Subtraction
  • Unit 4: Decimal Concepts; Coordinate Grids
  • Unit 5: Operations with Fractions
  • Unit 6: Measurement; Decimal Multiplication and Division
  • Unit 7: Multiplication of Mixed Numbers, Geometry, Graphs
  • Unit 8: Applications of Measurement, Computation, and Graphing

This study guide usually takes my students two days of math class to complete, and I also send it home for parents to sign, acknowledging that they've reviewed with their student and they know what's expected on the test. This can be a fun review game as well, if you put students into groups and score it for table points. It also comes with an answer key!

Here are my 5th grade study guides, and I'll be adding on to my 4th grade inventory very soon! Leave me a 5-star rating to earn money for your next TPT purchases!

Explain patterns in the number of zeros of the product when multiplying a number by powers of 10, and explain patterns in the placement of the decimal point when a decimal is multiplied or divided by a power of 10. Use whole-number exponents to denote powers of 10.
Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication to multiply a fraction or whole number by a fraction.
Find the area of a rectangle with fractional side lengths by tiling it with unit squares of the appropriate unit fraction side lengths, and show that the area is the same as would be found by multiplying the side lengths. Multiply fractional side lengths to find areas of rectangles, and represent fraction products as rectangular areas.
