How to Utilize
Grammar Outline
The grammar outline provided can be used by teachers to view the pacing guide for teaching an entire year’s grammar standards (language arts). The year’s standards are split into nine units, which are each three weeks in length. Each unit highlights specific TEKS and Common Core Standards. The outline lays out the skills taught in each unit, including a skill focus, sentence structure concept, and spelling pattern.
Teacher Resources
The teacher resources included with each unit consist of mini-lessons to teach specific grammar skills, sentence structure concepts, and a review of spelling patterns. However, for Units 8-9, the teacher resources include a review of the concepts taught in Units 1-7. A brief description of each skill is provided, along with helpful tips.
Student Resources
The student resources include three weeks of warm-up pages. For the review units, the daily pages are different. Mondays and Wednesdays focus on specific skill reviews and Tuesdays and Thursdays focus on analyzing a passage for revision and editing errors. The assessment consists of a revision and editing passage along with an expository writing prompt.
