MORE INFO ABOUT THESE AMAZING EXTENDED STANDARDS THAT OHIO DEVELOPED - CAN BE HELPFUL IN ALL STATES! ⇩

EXTENDED Learning Standards based on the Common Core were developed in Ohio (OLS-E 2018) for students with special needs performing significantly below grade level,

HOWEVER - they can be used as access points to the curriculum and build skills to the regular learning standards.

The Extended Learning Standards (OLS-E) were developed in Ohio, but are based on the Common Core and can be very useful in all states. Each Common Core State Standard is extended into 3 levels of complexity - from least complex to most complex.

Even though I use the regular learning standards for most of my students, these are

excellent for using the levels of complexity to build up to some of the more challenging concepts! The Extended Standards are also aligned with the state alternative assessments.

"Using these Extended Standards to teach my kids on different levels has really helped my students (and me) feel less overwhelmed with regular CC "I Can" statements that seem difficult to them! We can tackle them step by step!"

"Recognizing the need to make the content standards accessible for all students, the Offices of Curriculum, Assessment and Exceptional Children at the Ohio Department of Education developed the Ohio’s Learning Standards-Extended (OLS-E 2017)."

Please see the Ohio edu website for further information on the Extended Standards.
