Description
Looking for the perfect math activity for your fourth grade Halloween party? "The Great Pumpkin Heist" challenges students to use their knowledge of place value and rounding (4.NBT.A.1, 4.NBT.A.2, 4.NBT.A.3) to solve the puzzles and find the town's pumpkins. This escape room is an excellent place value worksheet alternative that encourages active learning and collaboration.
This pumpkin-themed digital escape room is a perfect math activity to keep kids engaged with the distractions of Halloween and other fall activities. Teachers will love that this activity has little to no prep, no clues to hide, and is automated by a Google Form™! Students are not required to have e-mail addresses and you do not need to be a Google Classroom™ user to use this online breakout activity.
In order to complete the puzzles in this digital breakout, students need to be able to:
- Round numbers to the nearest ten, hundred, or thousand
- Compare the value of numbers written in standard form, expanded form, and written form
- Recognize how place value changes when a number is multiplied or divided by ten
- Recognize the value of a number in a given place (the value of the 4 in 643,997 is 40,000)
- Solve rounding challenges (what is the largest number that rounds to 5,000 when rounding to the nearest thousand)

What are teachers saying?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "My students LOVED this mystery! It was a great review of skills we previously learned and they were so motivated to solve the case! Thanks so much!" -Angela K.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "I asked my students what they thought about this resource and they could have been the spokes people for this activity. One student said “it was so fun but there wasn’t much math.” I pointed out all of the skills practiced and he said “oh I guess there was but I guess I was having so much fun I didn’t realize it.” Another student said “I didn’t like it, I loved it.” Very creative well designed activity. It was worth my money. " -Kati J.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "My class absolutely loved this! They had never done an escape room before and we used this during Maths week. They were so engaged and were almost jumping out of their seats with excitement. They were beyond thrilled when they got a clue right and even when they were stuck when they were questioned they were able to figure it out." -Katie G.
