40 Writing Progress Monitoring Prompts: Elementary & Middle Grades

The 40 Writing Progress Monitoring Prompts/Story Starters set includes 40 writing prompt/starters for elementary and middle grades with a lined response area on each page. Prompts are numbered with a place on each page for student name and administration date. Directions for administering are provided on the last page. Scoring is typically done by CWS (correct word sequences) and TWW (total words written) for tracking student growth in writing. For a detailed description on how to administer and score go to: www.interventioncentral.org.
Students are provided a copy of the prompt/story starter. The teacher reads it aloud and gives the student one minute to think and three minutes to write. Progress monitoring is typically given on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. This set provides enough for an entire school year.
