⭐ CUSTOMIZABLE FORMS AND CERTIFICATES: The 40 Book Challenge encourages students in 5th, 6th, and 7th grade to take ownership of their independent reading, to help expand knowledge of genres, and to improve reading levels through daily independent reading.
**DESIGNED FOR GRADES 5-7**
- Using the How to Choose a Book handout, students choose fiction, nonfiction, and poetry books that are a good fit according to their reading levels and their areas of interest.
- Students keep track of the books they read on Quarterly Reading Logs, which include specific goals to keep them on track and an opportunity for reflection at the end of each grading period.
- On the Yearly Tracker form, students record the number of books they read in each genre throughout the school year.
- The Genre Descriptions handout provides students with a point of reference for each of the major genres and some subgenres.
- Celebrate student success with 10 new and improved Milestone Certificates.
►Students can easily meet the challenge by reading 16 pages per day (about 20 minutes of reading daily). Every 100 pages they read = 1 book. Pages "roll over" from book to book, so every page counts! This helps keep kids motivated and is easy for them to track.
