What educators are saying

Very easy for teachers to access. This resource helped my teachers dive deeply into understanding the standards so they can more effectively assist our scholars. Thanks.

Description

This resource is a great planning tool to dive deeper into the 3rd Grade Math Standards! This bundle of Unpack the Standards includes majority of the 3rd Grade Math Standards. See below for the full list!

The products included in this bundle make it easier to understand what is required of the students so you know how to best teach the standard in its entirety.

Each standard includes an unpacking, which consists of the following:

  • the standard written out
  • item specifications
  • test response items
  • achievement level descriptors
  • progression of the standard
  • what the students need to know and what the students need to do
  • an essential question
  • learning goal(s)

Each standard comes with one unpacking (both in a PDF and PPT form-if you need to edit it).

This resource includes the following standards:

  • 3.G.1.1: Shapes (3.G.A.1/3.G.A.2)
  • 3.MD.1.1: Time (3.MD.A.1)
  • 3.MD.1.2: Volume & Mass (3.MD.A.2)
  • 3.MD.2.3: Graphs 3.MD.B.3)
  • 3.MD.2.4: Line Plots (3.MD.B.4)
  • 3.MD.3.5/3.6: Area (3.MD.C.5/3.MD.C.6)
  • 3.MD.3.7: Area with Multiplication (3.MD.C.7)
  • 3.MD.4.8: Perimeter (3.MD.D.8)
  • 3.NBT.1.1: Rounding (3.NBT.A.1)
  • 3.NBT.1.2: Addition & Subtraction (3.NBT.A.2)
  • 3.NBT.1.3: Multiply by Multiples of 10 (3.NBT.A.3)
  • 3.OA.1.1: Multiplication (3.OA.A.1)
  • 3.OA.1.2: Division (3.OA.A.2)
  • 3.OA.1.3: Multiplication & Division Word Problems (3.OA.A.3)
  • 3.OA.2.5: Properties of Operations (3.OA.B.5)
  • 3.OA.2.6: Division as an Unknown Factor (3.OA.B.6)

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line diagram.
Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l). Add, subtract, multiply, or divide to solve one-step word problems involving masses or volumes that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as a beaker with a measurement scale) to represent the problem.
Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
Generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Show the data by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units-whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
Recognize area as an attribute of plane figures and understand concepts of area measurement.
