30 Days of Middle School Number and Math Talks - Intermediate

This file contains 30 different slides (in pdf form) that you can use to engage your students in daily or weekly number talks. There are 10 slides for each of the three different categories including:

-Which One Doesn't Belong?: For these slides, there are really no right or wrong answers as long as students can justify their thinking!

-Would You Rather...: These problems offer students two different options and they can use mental math strategies and math talk to share and justify their choices.

-What Do You See, What Do You Wonder?: These images offer students to take their math thinking to creative and new places by finding examples of different math strands and potential problems within the image.

**There is no answer key included as the possibilities and "right" answers are endless! The focus of number or math talks is to get students think cross-strand and outside the box. They are also challenged to share and justify their thinking. As the teacher, you are meant to facilitate, but I often find I'm learning as well as students present things from perspectives I haven't considered or noticed as well.
