Description

You probably know that -ed gets added to the end of a regular verb to show past tense. You also know that -ed spells 3 different sounds at the end of different words. BUT did you know there is a way to figure out the sound? Use this FREE infographic to introduce the 3 sounds of -ed to your students!

  • -ed spells /id/ when the base word ends in /d/ or /t/. (wanted, started, added)
  • -ed spells /d/ when the base word ends in a voiced sound. (played, paused, closed)
  • -ed spells /t/ when the base word ends in an unvoiced sound. (walked, stopped, helped)
