What educators are saying

My class loves to create lapbooks, so this was very helpful when it came to social studies. It was a great way to discuss the branches of government as well as lending itself as a study guide for students.

Description

Are you looking for a U.S. government mini-unit for your early elementary students? THIS IS IT! This best-selling lapbook includes foldable pieces and mini-books that offer an engaging way for students to explore and learn about the three branches of government.

Designed for 1st through 3rd graders, this project consists of completing a variety of cut-outs, mini-books, foldable pieces, and “notecards,” which serve as data collection tools. These will all be used to create a lapbook to showcase the research notes and will aid the students in writing a final paragraph. This could easily be adapted for older grades where students are expected to write an informative report in five paragraphs, including an introduction paragraph, three body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph.

INCLUDED:

* Simple, clear directions for all research components and assembling the lapbook.

* Photos of a sample finished product where neither the research graphic organizer nor the sentence frame outline of the report is included in the lapbook. However, simple, clear directions are given for how to arrange the lapbook to display either one of them, if necessary.

* Templates for all cut-outs, mini-books, foldable pieces, and "notecards."

* A graphic organizer for informative writing to help students structure their research.

*A sentence frame outline of a report is included for the youngest grades.

* Suggested research resources are included. These resources can be easily checked out from any library.
