What educators are saying

Measurement is a tough concept to teach. This was a great resource to use during my lesson and my intervention time to reinforce our skills.
I don't really like the measurement unit in our core curriculum materials and this unit that you created is so much easier for the students to learn all the important things about measuring.

Description

Are you a 2nd Grade teacher teaching a unit on measurement? This 320-page 2nd Grade Measurement learning resource includes everything you need to teach Second Grade Measurement objectives successfully: 15 days of instructional lesson plans, teacher resources, step-by-step lesson plans, hands-on, engaging activities, measurement worksheets, measurement assessments, vocabulary cards and posters, and much, much more!

The unit resources begin with a unit overview, a parent letter, vocabulary cards, and pre-and post-assessment options.

Students will be engaged throughout the included 15, step-by-step instructional lesson plans that cover all 2nd Grade Measurement objectives.  Each lesson contains differentiation and assessment options.  Art and hands-on activities are also included throughout the unit to engage students and help them make real-world applications with their learning.

Furthermore, daily skill checks are included that can be used for exit tickets, assessments, or homework.  For additional practice with measurement objectives, five math stations are included, along with review games.

Answer keys and links to videos and books to enhance lessons are also included.

Measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools such as rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks, and measuring tapes.
Measure the length of an object twice, using length units of different lengths for the two measurements; describe how the two measurements relate to the size of the unit chosen.
Estimate lengths using units of inches, feet, centimeters, and meters.
Measure to determine how much longer one object is than another, expressing the length difference in terms of a standard length unit.
Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve word problems involving lengths that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as drawings of rulers) and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
