    Description

These 2nd grade math digital escape rooms are fun and engaging and cover a wide variety of second grade math standards. It can be hard to keep kids focused before a holiday, but these escape rooms are sure to keep students engaged in standards based learning before vacations and school holidays. These online breakouts can be done in-person or virtually, and can be completed as a whole class, in small groups, or by students individually. Best of all, these escape rooms are extremely easy to implement! There are no clues to hide, or answers to check. The entire breakout process is automated by Google Forms™, however Google™ accounts are NOT required. Anybody with an internet connection, device, and browser can complete these second grade math digital escape rooms.

    What is included?

    • The Great Pumpkin Heist is perfect for your Halloween class party, or to use any time during the fall. Place value puzzles are the key to unlocking doors and recovering the pumpkins!
    • In The Case of the Tricky Turkeys, students race to escape the barn using their knowledge of two-digit addition. Two versions of this escape room are included in this bundle: one version requires regrouping, while the other version does not. This activity is perfect for right before Thanksgiving break, or any time in the fall!
    • Escape the Snowglobe is perfect to use before winter break or to send to students virtually on a snow day! A variety of math skills including addition and subtraction within 20, ordering numbers, and word problems are all included!
    • Stopping the Valentine's Villain is a great math center to use at your Valentine's party. Subtracting two-digit numbers without regrouping, adding two-digit numbers with regrouping, and solving word problems are just a few tasks that students will encounter as they navigate this digital escape room.
    • Operation Free the Leprechaun will have your class smiling on St. Patrick's Day. With puzzles written as limericks, students will enjoy as they add and subtract within 1,000 (no regrouping for the subtraction), find the value of a set of coins, order numbers, solve multi-step word problems, and more!

    FAQ

    • Do students need to have Gmail™ accounts? NO! Anyone with internet access and a tablet, computer, or even phone can complete the breakout. The escape room is automated by a Google Form™, but does not require the teacher or students to have Google™ accounts.
    • How long will this take? That is the hardest question as the answer varies depending on each classroom, student, or group. Some students with a firm grasp on the concepts covered in this escape room will be able to complete the challenge very quickly (20 minutes), others will take longer. The majority of students will take between 35-45 minutes. Requiring students to show their work will increase the amount of time required to complete the puzzles.
    • Will students have to search the web to figure out the puzzles? NO! All of the information needed will be provided in the Google Form™. The math in this activity is all standards-based.

Escape rooms are a great way to encourage collaboration, practice skills, or review before tests.

100 can be thought of as a bundle of ten tens - called a “hundred.”
The numbers 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900 refer to one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine hundreds (and 0 tens and 0 ones).
