What educators are saying

I loved this resource!! The writing in our curriculum was hard for students to follow. This resource breaks down the writing steps and made it so simple and easy. The differentiation it has is amazing as well!
We have just finished our first narrative using these organizers and the students did a wonderful job with them! I like how the same ones are used for each type of writing but the wording is changed slightly!

Description

Engage students with writing and provide them with consistent expectations using this year round writing resource. It includes rubrics and lesson plans for on level writers, struggling writers and above level writers. Each subject (narrative, informative and opinion) is differentiated to accommodate above level, on level and struggling learners. There are also differentiated editing checklists for self and peer editing. There are anchor charts for topic sentence, closing sentence, informative, opinion and narrative writing. This product can be easily adapted to write about any subject or to align with any curriculum.

This is entirely common core based and explicitly hits the following standards:

W.2.1 - Write opinion pieces in which they introduce the topic or book they are writing about, state an opinion, supply reasons that support the opinion, use linking words (e.g., because, and, also) to connect opinion and reasons, and provide a concluding statement or section.

W.2.2 - Write informative/explanatory texts in which they introduce a topic, use facts and definitions to develop points, and provide a concluding statement or section.

W.2.3 - Write narratives in which they recount a well-elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure.

W.2.5 - With guidance and support from adults and peers, focus on a topic and strengthen writing as needed by revising and editing

W.2.7 - Participate in shared research and writing projects (e.g., read a number of books on a single topic to produce a report; record science observations).

W.2.8 - Recall information from experiences or gather information from provided sources to answer a question.
