Description

*PLEASE READ: This chapter is very hands on! Students are using rulers to measure different objects of various sizes. Many objects have to be ready and available to them and you as well to model with. If your purchase this product, you should review all the slides prior to teaching the lessons so you know how you can best prepare for these lessons, depending on the resources you will have available.

Dear followers and TpT customers,

Hello! These are my lesson plans for the Chapter 8 unit of Go Math! for 2nd grade. It is a power point format and breaks down each lesson nicely from the chapter. If you have a Promethean board or interactive board, you can connect it to your computer and display these on the board and even do some work on some of the slides with the pen. Or you can print out the slides too. I have a free product in my store with this similar power point approach from a different chapter so you can take a look to see some of my work. For returning customers, if you loved my other products and go math lessons, I am sure you will love this one too. Take a look

The Power Point includes:

-All 9 lessons from the Go Math Chapter 8 book 2nd grade.

- 66 slides

-a problem of the day for each lesson.

-a teaching objective for each lesson.

-an I do slide for each lesson, which is the content you will first teach and model.

- a We Do slide for each lesson, which is the example you will have students try with you after you model the concept.

- a You Do slide for each lesson, which is a quick check students do on their own before sending them off to do work independently and so you know which students to differentiate for or pull into a small group

-an independent work assignment color coded.

-Math journal question for students to work on when they are finished with all their work.

*You will need to have a K-6 Think Central account which is where you can find extra worksheets for the lesson as well as the Reteach and Enrich worksheets.

This resource is for educators and schools that follow the Go Math curriculum. You should have the teacher workbook for Go Math that goes with this resource. It aligns with the book nicely, but we all know as teachers, we will always need to make adjustments and get other sources. This resource again, serves to be your lesson plans and what you can model with in front of students on a smart board. I am hoping that it saves you some time on lesson planning and helps you understand how to teach a math lesson from Go Math. The I do , We do, You do is the model we follow at my school and a similar model other schools use as well, at least in New York State.

Measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools such as rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks, and measuring tapes.
Measure the length of an object twice, using length units of different lengths for the two measurements; describe how the two measurements relate to the size of the unit chosen.
Estimate lengths using units of inches, feet, centimeters, and meters.
Generate measurement data by measuring lengths of several objects to the nearest whole unit, or by making repeated measurements of the same object. Show the measurements by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in whole-number units.
