What educators are saying

Great activity with in-depth critical thinking on a political issue that partitions Americans. My compliment is that the students appreciate learning and hearing from both sides of the issue and digging in on what the layers of the subject are.
Due to the recent events in NY and Texas, my ESL students had a lot of questions about our gun laws. I used this survey with them as a jumping off point for discussion and research. These questions are thought-provoking and appropriate for mature students.

Description

In light of recent events regarding gun control, my students find this to be an incredibly thought-provoking activity. Students will read twelve different opinions related to the 2nd amendment. They will then be forced to think about, and circle where they fall on the continuum of “strongly agree” to “strongly disagree.” They must explain why they placed themselves where they did, as they are called upon to justify their answers when I ask them to move around the room to the four corners. This document is editable, so you can add any opinions you wish or take out any you feel may not be appropriate for the students in your class.
