Description

This resource is designed to be used with Botley the Coding Robot. Botley will help reinforce 2D and 3 D shapes and coding at the same time! This packet contains 42 shape task cards. One set contains task cards with pictures of real world 2D and 3D objects. This set can be used when introducing 2D and 3D shapes or with students needing some extra support. The second set of task cards have attribute descriptors such as vertices and sides or roll, stack and slide. This packet could be used to create 3 mats for Botley (2D shapes, 3D shapes and 2D/3D mixed shapes).

Simply print and cut the large squares. Attach them to chart paper, bulletin board paper or poster board to create a work mat grid for Botley. The large squares can be configured any way you want! Print and laminate your task cards.

Botley can be used during math centers or during small group instruction. This packet will allow you to differentiate for different levels of learners in your class. A programming sheet is also included to help your students show their thinking. Place the programming sheets inside sheet protectors to make an easy dry erase resource.

As an added bonus, this packet contains 3 additional coding sheets. These coding sheets picture the coding mat and will be very helpful for students new to coding.

Happy coding!

Identify shapes as two-dimensional (lying in a plane, “flat”) or three-dimensional (“solid”).
Analyze and compare two- and three-dimensional shapes, in different sizes and orientations, using informal language to describe their similarities, differences, parts (e.g., number of sides and vertices/“corners”) and other attributes (e.g., having sides of equal length).
