Description

This resource includes 21 Common Core Literary and Informational Graphic Organizers aligned to priority reading informational and literary standards for grades 6-8 – I am including a file of 20 PDF files that I created to be aligned specifically to many of the informational and literary standards and speaking and listening standards in the Common Core State Standards. These tools are applicable nationwide and include critical questions designed to help students analyze and evaluate the text that they will read in your classroom. The graphic organizers include challenging level 2 and 3 questions that will require students to go beyond recalling facts from a selected text and will cause them to deconstruct the text and respond critically to what they have read. Some of the most commonly addressed standards by the graphic organizers in the set include:

1. Rhetoric and argumentative appeals – RI6
2. Argument and supporting evidence – RI6
3. Theme – RL2
4. Main Ideas and Supporting Details – RI2
5. Tone – RI4, RL4
6. Characterization (protagonist and antagonist) – RL3
7. Development of story structure – RL5

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Count to 100 by ones and by tens.
Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
