Description

Welcome to the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France! Seven activities are included, bringing together reading, math, social studies, technology production (not just consumption), and product presentation all centered around the history of the games and especially the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris!

Students will compare and contrast the modern Olympic games with the Ancient Olympics, as well as dig into what the background of the various parts of the Olympics themselves. Research focuses on the Olympic history, modern athletes, modern events, the location and geography of Paris, as well as provide an opportunity to track and graph data through the Olympic session.

Choice and voice are offered on many of the tasks, as the rubrics are left open ended for teachers to adjust to what works in their classrooms. Although these activities and tasks are designed with technology in mind, many can be switched to a hands on format, as well as the hands on items can be switched to technology based.

Ideas are also included for "bringing the Olympic Games into your classroom," setting the stage for working together toward a common class goal and creating classroom community at the beginning of the school year.
