Description

Help your students avoid the summer slide WITHOUT using reams of paper to copy large activity packets!

  • Comprehensive and Rigorous: Calendars consist of 70+ ELA & math activities, all aligned to Kindergarten CCSS learning standards. Packets also include a reading log, comprehension questions for fiction & non-fiction texts (roughly aligned to reading Levels A through F), capital & lowercase letter cards, number cards 1-20, and some "helpful" hints for completing some of the activities.

  • Low Prep for Teachers: All you have to do is pick the calendar dates you want, open the .pdf file to edit the parent letter (or just add your signature), then either print or share digitally with students!

  • Ink-Friendly: Packets have a maximum of 9 pages for each student, depending on which custom date range you decide to print (see FAQ's for details)

  • Low Prep for Families: Students only need a pack of index cards, a notebook, pencils/crayons, and a willing adult to complete most of the suggested activities. A small portion of the suggested activities require access to the internet, but the parent letter clearly states that it's fine to skip those activities if internet access isn't available.

What types of academic skills do these calendars cover?

The calendars have one grade-appropriate ELA or Math activity each day. The preview for this resource allows you to view the editable parent letter, "helpful hints" pages, and the entire calendar for the month of June.

It's not possible for me to make paper packets for my students this year. Can I share these digitally with parents?

Absolutely. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed how we all do things, so you are more than welcome to digitally transmit these packets to the students you've taught this year through the following means:

  • E-mail
  • Password secured class or school websites (e.g. A parent would have to enter a password in order to access that part of the website)
  • Apps such as Google Classroom, Seesaw, Class Dojo, Remind, etc. It's not possible for me to list them all, but I'm OK with any platform or app that requires the parent to get a password or log-in code from you in order to sign on.

You may not post this resource to any website that doesn't require parents to use a sign-in/password to access the resource. Also, you may not e-mail this file to co-workers or share it with them through a school-wide or district-wide server or shared drive UNLESS you've purchased an additional user license for each person who will access it (see last FAQ question/answer for details).

What are this year's custom date ranges?

I've included 15 custom date ranges to account for the fact that summer break schedules vary widely from one school district to the next. This year's custom date ranges are as follows:

May 20 - Aug 9

May 20 - Aug 16

May 20 - Aug 23

May 27 - Aug 9

May 27 - Aug 16

May 27 - Aug 23

June 3 - Aug 9

June 3 - Aug 16

June 3 - Aug 23

June 10 - Aug 9

June 10 - Aug 16

June 10 - Aug 23

June 17 - Aug 9

June 17 - Aug 16

June 17 - Aug 23

You can further customize the date ranges by choosing to exclude a particular month's calendar when you print (e.g. don't print the August calendar if your school system's summer break ends the last week of July).

Is this product appropriate for kids who will be repeating Kindergarten in the fall?

Yes. The activities in this product are aligned to Kindergarten CCSS standards, so students who use the calendars will be practicing Kindergarten level skills. For children who will repeat Kindergarten next year, this will give them a chance to work on some of the skills they didn't master this past school year. For children who will go on to the 1st grade, this will allow them to maintain their academic skills so they will be ready for 1st grade curriculum content when school starts.

Will I have to buy this resource again next year? This resource is a bit pricey as compared to other summer calendar products available on TpT, and I want to make sure I'm getting my money's worth.

I totally get that! I have been updating these calendars each year at no additional charge, so buyers only have to purchase them once (that's why the price is a bit higher than other summer calendar resources). All you have to do next year is wait for the e-mail indicating they've been updated, then go to your "My Purchases" page and download the updated file. I intend to continue to update this resource (free of charge) each and every year for as long as I am a seller on TpT.

I love this resource! Is it available for other grade levels? How about a bundle?

This resource is availble for all grade levels from Kindergarten to 5th grade. A K-5 BUNDLE is also available! To access these resources, click the link below:

Can I use this resource with my entire grade level?

Yes, but ONLY IF you purchase an extra license for each additional classroom or homeroom teacher you want to share the calendars with (i.e. 1 licence for each classroom). Extra licenses are tpically 10% off the regular product price, but I understand that school budgets get REALLY tight at the end of the school year. To make sure you and your school can afford to use this resource, I've discounted extra licenses to 75% off!!!!! Each extra license for this bundle covers 6 teachers.

Feedback on paid resources translates to TpT credits for you! Please be as specific as possible about what you like and don't like so I know what changes need to be made in the next revision. I'm a perfectionist, so trust me, there's always going to be a "next revision"!
