2012-2013 First Grade Academic School Year Pacing Calendar

Always scrambling the week of to plan your sight words, word families, and morning routines?

This excel document maps out the school year according to the NYC academic calendar. Teachers in other districts can use this calendar by deleting the first column and following it by week (week 1, week 2, etc.)

This pacing calendar, created as a resource for first grade teachers outlines the following:
-holidays or events for each week
-the benchmark reading level your students should fall under at that point in the school year according to the Fountas and Pinnell reading assessment program
-5 grade level appropriate sight words
-Poem of the Week (to be use in conjunction with Scholastic's E-Books "50 Thematic Songs" by Meish Goldish & Perfect Poems for Teaching Sight Words" by Deborah Ellermeyer & Judith Rowell)
-Word family of the week
-Appropriate Read-Alouds
-Fundations Unit of Study to focus on for each week
