1st Grade Reading Comprehension Passages & Questions: Level F {Digital Resource}

This reading comprehension packet includes fifteen passages with text-based questions. Each passage is designed to help kids work toward the goals of carefully reading Level F text and thoughtfully answering comprehension questions.

To provide flexibility, for use in distance learning and/or a classroom setting, the following options are offered:

1) A link to this document in Google Slides™

2) A link to a document with a JPEG image of each page

3) Ready for use with Easel by TpT™ (the new and enhanced TpT digital tool)

4) Printable, as a traditional PDF in full color

5) Printable, as a traditional PDF in an ink-saving black and white version

With each of the fifteen passages, there are four text-based multiple choice questions.

As students find the evidence that supports their answers, they participate in their very first close reading lessons.

There are also two written response pages with each passage. The first of these presents standard comprehension questions. The second written response page invites students to write sentences about pictures related to the passage.

These passage and question sets are useful for distance learning, small group work, choral reading, fluency work, intervention sessions, morning work, homework, and/or literacy centers.

To support word study lessons, I often have kids go on "scavenger hunts" to find and highlight words with features from our word work lessons or selected sight words.

Please note: An answer key is included for the multiple choice questions. For many of the written response questions, answers can vary and are considered correct as long as the student logically uses evidence from the text to support his or her answer.
