Description

First Grade Nonfiction Reading and Comprehension Passages RTI {10 Weeks Included}

When working with beginning and struggling readers, I find many nonfiction resources to be too difficult for my students to read so I wanted a resource that would build my student's language first and then do a phonics review and focus before tackling the nonfiction passages. I also wanted to give my students meaningful repeated reading practice with a purpose. There are 5 days of lesson plans for each week. The weeks follow the same format for ease of teaching. I have provided both multiple-choice and write a sentence options for the comprehension questions to either scaffold instruction or differentiate instruction.

This is available in Google Slides, and Color printable PDF's, & Black and White printable PDF's. This will make it easy to use in-person teaching and for digital distance learning.

******Note this is the same as the Orton Gillingham Version but does not include Open Dyslexic Font. Please don't purchase both.

Day 1: Watch a video and read an article to your students. Then do the Talk & Think chart with your students.

Day 2: Review the phonics concepts and tricky words.

Day 3: Have students read the passage. Then reread and do the cloze passage.

Day 4: Have students reread the passage and do the multiple-choice comprehension questions.

Day 5: Have the students reread and then answer the comprehension questions in complete sentences. Finish the Talk and Think chart.

Topics Covered: Seahorses, Small Geckos, Snakes, Bats, Ants, Bees, Spiders, Giraffes, Tadpoles Robins
