Description
DIGITAL & PRINTABLE! This animal-themed resource works for extra comprehension support, fluency practice, test prep or review. This resource has high-interest animal selections that are rigorous enough to help your students with needed comprehension skills, yet just long enough to hold interest. It's a great supplement to online district resources that might not have this kind of variety. There are 14 DIGITAL pages ready to assign on student devices. The digital pages do not include every page of the resource but those I deemed useful to the digital format.
There are text-dependent questions, vocabulary and an extended response for each selection. There are two different graphic organizers and writing templates for extended writing. ANSWER KEY FOR ANIMAL SELECTIONS, RIDDLES, AND CAUSE/EFFECT SORT is INCLUDED!
If you purchase open the green view files tab to get access to both the PDF and digital Easel pages. You can choose the pages for your student's devices. Simply go to edit pages and remove the ones you wish to remove for any given assignment. If you wish to change your selections you can revert back to the original pages and choose again. When you click the "assign" tab you will get a code for your students' devices.

Suggestions:
I do not plan to give this packet to students all at once although you certainly could do that. I intend to use it as high-interest test prep animal by animal and also as a springboard for portfolio writing and research. I'll put the card match-ups into a zipper pouch and into a pocket portfolio with three-hole binder brads. That way I can keep all the pieces of this file together in the pockets, too.
The reading level as determined by the Flesch-Kincaid Grade-Level Scale is 5.5. I intend on using this for some guided third grade guided instruction as well as fourth and fifth grade ESL classes. I would probably not expect grades below fifth to be able to do this packet independently although there are some students below fifth grade who would do fine. It would be excellent for middle school independent work for students on grade level.
