03 HOMEOSTASIS NYS Living Environment Unit Plan

I have broken down the NYS Living Environment Curriculum into 17 unique units.  Each unit is designed around the 5E Model, beginning with a lab exploration and concluding with a written response and assessment.  Each unit contains a single driving question, with 6 unique hyperlinked Google documents.

• EXPLORE:  Laboratory exploration that aligns with the driving question and ends with a written scientific explanation.
• CONCEPT:  Informational text that begins with an initial scenario, followed by three subsections.  After each section, there are checks for understanding, including multiple choice and short answer questions.
• NOTES:  Document for students to organize their textual evidence and analysis from the EXPLORE and CONCEPT sections in order to write their response to the unit’s driving question.
• SENTENCES:  Worksheet for students to construct more complex and informative sentences using The Hochman Method.
• REVIEW:  Worksheet with multiple graphic organizers designed to prepare students for the unit assessment.
• ASSESSMENT:  16 NYS Regents questions based on the topics addressed during the unit.
