What educators are saying

I really enjoyed this resource! Such a helpful way to review and practice matching shape nets to their 3D shape.

Description

Are you looking for a new, no-prep, interactive geometry themed resource to engage your students? These 3D Shapes Name and Net Match Google Slides will engage your students as they consolidate their knowledge of 3D Shapes, 3D Shape names and their nets.

3D Shapes Net and Name Match includes 24 interactive question slides which students should view in presentation mode. Present mode should be used so that students are able to click and get immediate feedback. These interactive slides work well as a whole class warm up on the interactive whiteboard as well as a maths group task to use on ipads. Please do not remove slides or change slide order as feedback will no longer work effectively. Interactive resources encourage students to take risks that they may not take when using just pencils and paper.

This is an Australian made resource which is aligned to the Australian Curriculum Year 5 level. It also aligns to CCSS for Year 6. No extra formatting required - simply assign the tasks to your students.

Understand that attributes belonging to a category of two-dimensional figures also belong to all subcategories of that category. For example, all rectangles have four right angles and squares are rectangles, so all squares have four right angles.
Find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other shapes; apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Represent three-dimensional figures using nets made up of rectangles and triangles, and use the nets to find the surface area of these figures. Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
