For instance, if you’re teaching a narrative writing unit, pull out the “Writing Leads” mini-lesson. Or if students are writing a descriptive essay, teach the “Sensory Details” mini-lesson. You can easily teach each of these lessons to the entire class, small groups, or even to individual students.
Great News! In this resource, the student handouts are also available in a digital (Google Slides) version. In addition to the PDF version, students can complete the writing lessons via a file sharing service such as Google Drive, Google Classroom, or in the internet “cloud.” The digital version of the packet is accessible from any computer and allows students to complete their work online.

- Each writing lesson is designed as a stand-alone lesson. The lessons can be taught in any order, at any time. Of course, the lessons can also be taught in succession as an entire writing skills unit.
- The writing lessons focus on different aspects of the writing process and craft.
- Students practice writing strategies and skills in focused lessons.
