Description
This interactive Wayne Thiebaud art project was created in Google Slides and is meant for the students to complete within Google or other digital applications. Students watch a video read a short biography, watch a video about the artist, and then a full demonstration video before beginning their artwork. Students create their own digital art bakery case, fill out a reflection sheet and KWL chart on the artist.
This is a digital resource. There is no physical download, but rather a link to the resource that TpT will share with you on the google drive. Take a moment to check out this video for a peek inside!! These are created to be used through Google Classroom or any other Digital Platform your school may have. Great for Upper Elementary/Middle School Visual Art.
WAYNE THIEBAUD DIGITAL ART PROJECT
14 SLIDES:
- 5-minute video on Wayne Thiebaud
- Full 18-minute narrated video that takes students through the process of creating their own Wayne Thiebaud bakery case.
- Progressive slides take students through adding backgrounds, cupcake wrappers, cake, icing, decorations, cakes, icing and decorations, and finally doughnuts and icings! (That's one full bakery case! lol)
- Students create their own "freestyle" Thiebaud artwork using the elements in the resource.
- Students use what they learned to answer reflection questions on a google slide:
- In Wayne Thiebaud’s artwork, do his cakes look real? How are they represented?
- How is space used in the painting? How does light and shadow add to the composition?
- Is the subject matter of his paintings symbolic in any way? How?
- Digital KWL Chart (What you knew, What you wonder and What you learned)
- Discussion questions:
- Close your eyes and think of foods you love, or loved when you were younger. Can you picture the images in your mind?
- What are the colors? Shapes? Textures?
- Can you recall the taste? How would you describe it?
- Detailed Teacher Instructions as a Separate Document
- Editable Rubric
