Watercolor Form Reference Sheet

This lesson takes students through the two ways to build values in their paintings, through layering techniques and blending techniques. Students create a value strip using the layering techniques and an abstract value composition using the blending technique. Next the learn to shade shapes to create 3-dimensional forms using watercolor to create value and practice griding with 8 included worksheets.

Once this is mastered students apply their skill to a final painting using reference of their choosing. Lesson has students grid reference and create a value sketch. They learn to create transparency with watercolor by using only black paint and water to create value ranges.
