    Description

Are your students researching monuments and landmarks in the United States? This product contains note taking sheets and flip books for displaying student research of these twelve famous U.S. places:

    ~ Alamo

    ~ Empire State Building

    ~ Golden Gate Bridge

    ~ Hoover Dam

    ~ Jefferson Memorial

    ~ Lincoln Memorial

    ~ Mount Rushmore

    ~ Space Needle

    ~ Statue of Liberty

    ~ U.S. Capitol

    ~ Washington Monument

    ~ White House

Please download the preview to see a detailed view of example pages. The format and choices are the same for all 12 landmarks.

Each note sheet and flip book is presented three ways - with primary lines (these have a dotted line in the middle and are often used in grades 1 and 2), lines (for upper grades), and no lines. Choose which format is best for your students; in an inclusive classroom you can use the different formats to differentiate for your students.

The note taking sheets with lines can be printed double sided, as they allow for two pages of notes. The unlined versions are one page. Students will need to take notes on where the monument is, when it was built, who designed it, why it was built/what it is used for, and fun facts (I have my students list at least 3, but you could choose more or less based on your students).

Students then use their notes to complete the flip books. Students can write their reports using complete sentences, paragraphs, or bulleted phrases. Depending on your students, you may expect responses to be more or less detailed. For example, to answer where the monument is, you might expect:

    • In Washington D.C.
    • On Independence Avenue
    • The Capitol is bordered by Constitution Avenue, Independence Avenue, and First Streets in Washington, D.C. It is on the eastern end of the National Mall. You can take the subway to Union Station and then walk to the Capitol if you would like to visit.

A works cited page is included for those who would like to use one.

Because this product allows you so many ways to differentiate the outcome, it is useful for many grade levels!

If you download the detailed preview, you will find examples of each type of page to help you determine if this will meet your needs!

Many of these books can be purchased separately if desired. This is a money-saving bundle - if each book was purchased separately it would cost $18. You save $8 by purchasing this as a bundle!

    Thank you for looking! :)
