What educators are saying

This was a great review resource. My students were much more confident after reviewing the multiple transformations.

Description

Transformations - Geometry Transformations Unit Review

Include in this product is an 8 page, 54 question review on Transformations. The review is broken into thirteen parts over the 8 pages.

Parts 1 - 3: Reflections - - reflecting a point, graphing a figure and its reflection in the coordinate plane and identifying the lines of reflection in a figure.

Parts 4 - 7: Translations - - translating a point, graphing a figure and its translation in the coordinate plane and identifying the translation of a figure, composition of reflections to produce a translation

Parts 8 - 10: Rotations - - rotating a set of points, graphing a figure and its rotation in the coordinate plane and magnitude and order of rotation

Parts 11 - 13: Dilations - - dilating a point, graphing a figure and its dilation in the coordinate plane and identifying the dilation of a figure,

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Represent transformations in the plane using, e.g., transparencies and geometry software; describe transformations as functions that take points in the plane as inputs and give other points as outputs. Compare transformations that preserve distance and angle to those that do not (e.g., translation versus horizontal stretch).
Given a rectangle, parallelogram, trapezoid, or regular polygon, describe the rotations and reflections that carry it onto itself.
Develop definitions of rotations, reflections, and translations in terms of angles, circles, perpendicular lines, parallel lines, and line segments.
Given a geometric figure and a rotation, reflection, or translation, draw the transformed figure using, e.g., graph paper, tracing paper, or geometry software. Specify a sequence of transformations that will carry a given figure onto another.
Use geometric descriptions of rigid motions to transform figures and to predict the effect of a given rigid motion on a given figure; given two figures, use the definition of congruence in terms of rigid motions to decide if they are congruent.
