The Radio Game - Educational Tool/Activity for Music or Poetry

The Radio Game is an engaging, powerful technique for developing inner hearing (audiation or the ‘mind’s ear’). It is an effective tool for teaching in-tune singing as well as rhythmic accuracy. It is also an excellent memorization aid for songs, poetry and choral readings. It provides reinforcement of skills and concepts while creating intense student focus and delight. The Radio Game is also handy for filling in a few minutes of time with meaningful activity. Adapt this activity to pieces you are teaching to explore melody (voice), rhythm (tapping), language, or repeating patterns within a piece (form).
