Description

Included in this folder is a slide deck that covers the topic of social stratification and social mobility, as well as a worksheet for students to play a game of rigged monopoly and report their findings.

These resources are designed to introduce students to the idea of social stratification through a series of videos, charts, and analogies, before launching into a simple online game of rigged monopoly where some students have relatively easier paths to victory (upper-middle or upper class) while other students can still win but face more structural difficulties (lower class). Discussion questions provided in the slide deck and on the worksheet. Designed to be assigned over virtual mediums (Google Slides and Google Docs. Very Google Classroom friendly).

Please note: The online version of the game that this product uses may be unavailable in your district. I highly recommend going to https://boardgamesonline.net/Games/online/play/monopoli to check whether the game is working before purchasing.
