Description

Why do good people do bad things? This Social Psychology lesson takes a twist on the classic study of obedience by Milgram. Students begin with a questionnaire and four corners activity to debate how they would act in a given situation. Small groups will read various real-world scenarios of obedience to authority and try to conclude what the causes people to obey. Finally, they will doodle their way through a Crash Course video and a Common Lit article about the classic Milgram experiment. This lesson makes it easy for you to engage students in supplemental activities that go beyond the textbook or PowerPoint notes. Each lesson is built with best practice instructional strategies, proven to work with students of all levels.

Satisfied customers have stated:

  • "This is top-notch resource"
  • "This was an amazing resource and was very easy to use!"
  • "The 4 corner discussion was very engaging. It offered a great perspective to start our study of social psychology and the Milgram study."
  • "After reading Night with my GT 8th graders, I used this to help extend their understanding of why seemingly good people do bad things. While this is listed under psychology, it was a good exercise for ELAR students in summarizing and synthesizing. This is top-notch resource. "

All lessons include a detailed lesson plan with learning targets and essential questions, clear directions, links where appropriate, ready-to-copy interactive pages, bellringers, and formative assessment exit tickets. Resources require minimal preparation ahead of time, though this varies by lesson. I've also started including separate pdf pages and images of the lesson so it can be more flexible and easily assigned in a digital classroom. Many of the pages of the pdf are also included as individual PowerPoint pages that the students can type right on, save, and submit to your LMS.
