Description

The Digital Self-Esteem Project is a Google Slides™ activity that combines technology with art to boost children's self-esteem. Students select positive words to describe themselves and then create their own self-portrait using one of 40 different templates. This is an engaging project to use for Open House, small groups, counseling lessons, hallway displays, class books, and more! Children will be full of pride as others check out the positive words they have chosen to describe themselves!

Not ready to go digital?

The 40 blank portraits can be printed directly from Google Slides

A word bank of all 40 words is provided and can be given to students as a handout or displayed on the board

Students can write their chosen words with marker around their selected portrait and then color their project

Project Steps:

➊ Share the included Google Slides™ template with your students

➋ Students select from a variety of 40 different portrait styles

➌ Students choose from 40 positive words to describe themselves and place them around their portrait by clicking, dragging, and resizing

➍ Students share their Slides file with you or submit it in Google Classroom™

➎ Print students' portraits

➏ Students color their printed portraits

Can this be use without technology? Yes! See the steps above.

Are the portraits diverse? Yes! There are portraits for boys and girls, as well as gender neutral portraits. There are also a variety of hairstyles, head coverings, and ethnicities available. A blank silhouette is included for students who would would like to design their own portrait.

Can this project be used without a printer? Yes! Students can insert facial feature clip art to design their portrait instead of coloring it by hand.
