Description

Hands-on activities with building blocks challenges for the win! Engage and motivate kids on the daily basis! Use for morning tubs, recess bins, STEAM/STEM time, and at-home or distance learning! Your students will be begging for more!

Enjoy 120 engaging and motivating building blocks STEAM/STEM challenge task cards that promote critical thinking skills! There are 120 exciting challenges, each on their own card, in black and white for easy printing. Pick and choose the challenges you and your students use each day, based on the needs of your class or use them all over the course of a year!

So, how do you use this resource?

In our elementary classroom, I printed the cards on card stock and then laminated. I punched a hole in the cards and put them on a binder ring so kids can flip through and choose the card they would like to try with a tub of building blocks we have in the classroom. In summer school, I placed one task card on a pencil box using tape and then put all materials needed inside that pencil case for students to use easily and independently. I have these cards to use and reuse over and over again. I can also print more to send home with students as a vacation activity, summer break activity, or for home learning experiences.

What materials should I have on hand?

Materials required: building bricks, rubber bands, marbles, empty glue bottles, water, containers, pennies, marshmallows, matchbox cards, a fan.

What's included?

Included are three mini journals for planning, reflecting, and challenges. There are lined pages, pages with lines and space to draw a picture, and pages with lines/a box for drawing a picture/directions. Simply choose the cover you like, choose the pages you'd like inside, and print double-sided, flip on the short side. Just be sure to use an even number of pages.

Examples of Challenges Included:

Some challenges include: building different 2D and 3D shapes, saving your friends from a deserted island by building a boat, designing a race track for a matchbox car, helping the mail carrier deliver his mail when his truck broke down, building a stronger fence to keep a wolf out of the pig pen, and designing different scenes to represent different seasons. There is something for everyone!
