Description

Do you use responsive classroom techniques? This approach to discipline and classroom management has transformed my classroom. Are you looking for an easy way to teach your students about logical consequences? This resource is perfect for getting your students engaged without taking up too much time.

⭐️Who is it for?

Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade and beyond!

Because you can edit this document, it works for any grade level!

This product is right for you if:

✔️You want to create a peaceful ✌️learning environment where your students feel connected and loved before being academically challenged.

✔️You want to help your students understand how their behavior affects their own learning, as well as their classmates. You want them to become familiar with the three logical consequences, which are non-punitive responses to misbehavior. Read more in my blog post!

⭐️What's included?

❤️Logical Consequence Posters- 3 designs, 100% editable

⭐️Why do I need this?

  • You may know the importance of Logical Consequences, but aren't sure where to start. These posters will take the guesswork out of how to incorporate this key practice into your classroom, helping to set your students up for success.

  • You can use these posters throughout the entire school year! It is obviously helpful to set up your behavior management plan at the beginning of the year, but just as important to review after winter break and spring break, just as you review all expectations.

How does it work?

  • These are the 3 types of consequences:

1. You break it, you fix it- whether accidentally or intentionally, those responsible for causing the problem take responsibility for fixing it. This may be things, or even feelings.

2. Loss of Privilege- the child will miss out on participating or using certain class materials if he or she cannot use them appropriately.

3. Take a Break/Time Out/Cool Down-when a child needs a means of recovering self control or calming down.

  • Whole group, we decide on a consequence for each action. It is so important that your students have buy in and understand where the logic comes from. This powerpoint has editable text boxes so that you can do the same!

  • To do so, simply show the powerpoint on the board. Erase the text I have written, and write in your own with the class. If you want to completely do your own, use the second version of the slide and add in all necessary text boxes and complete together.

  • To make these poster size I send to the poster maker and print. You could also print a blank poster, laminate, and write with dry erase markers (to use year after year), or wait to print once you have collaborated with students and typed responses.

  • Personally I do not leave these posted, but I do take them back out and we re-do them after winter break and spring break, based on the behaviors I am seeing in class.

  • Some people prefer the verbiage “take a break” over “time out,” so I included both options.

Karen S. says:

I LOVE this resource. I think I've tried every variation of every behavior management strategy going and have been looking for something more positive to replace the 'chart' system that have been popular in previous years. This leaves no room for argument - it's clear and concise and the consequences are logical (obviously!) and fair.

Kayla S. says:

This is a great resource! I used it during our morning meeting to introduce logical consequences to students. I kept it up all year as a visual for the students! It is great because if the students showed some kind of negative behavior, I had them go look at the posters to determine what their consequence should be.

Gluesticks N Giggles (TpT Seller) says:

This is an amazing resource - students clearly understand they will be accountable for their choices. Logical consequences make classroom management much easier.

Rose G. says:
As I began to fall in love with RC, Logical Consequences was my biggest leap. This resource was a great way for myself and my students to become comfortable with understanding of consequences in the classroom.
