Description

Are you looking for ways to get more poetry writing into your classroom? This poetry unit has everything you need to get your students excited about writing poems. Both print and digital are included. Students will learn about 12 different types of poems as they complete their own student books using the elements of poetry templates.

Your students will love creating their own unique poetry books after learning about each type of poem. Examples of poems, poetry anchor charts that make great posters to display, videos to watch to learn about the elements of poetry and so much more will make poetry writing a breeze for your students!

Prep is quick and easy... Just print the student pages and/or assign the Google slides (these can be used as whole group learning also) and you are ready to go! Lesson plans with information about each type of poem are included for you also.

Display the colorful anchor chart poster for each poem as your students learn how to write using the correct prose. Share examples, videos, and templates with your students to give them the support they need to be successful in writing their own poetry!

Teach one poem a month or teach them all in April for National Poetry Month as you complete this unit.

Lesson plans are included for each type of poem along with online links to make learning about poetry fun, engaging, and easy! Examples poems are written by myself.
