Description
In this lesson students create a two hands, one that represents their past and one that represents their future, learning how to tell a story through their art.
Students fill out a graphic organizer writing out words or phrases that remind them of their past and things that they hope for in the future. Next students go through magazines, maps, books, fabric, buttons thread, etc. and pull objects, textures and colors that might represent their memories/feelings. Students learn mixed media techniques such as layering, tape transfer and eraser stamps to create texture. Finally, using their knowledge of mixed media techniques and their graphic organizers' students attempt to create a past and future hand that tells the story of their past and their hopes for the future.
