As a STEM coordinator, I am always looking for creative ways for teachers to integrate STEM engineering and design challenges into their classroom activities. I decided to work on creating STEM Engineering Challenge Packs for some themes.

This STEM Challenge Activity is focused on the Wheel & Axle!

Can you create a working water wheel that spins when rice is poured over it?

Materials: (per group)

-Paper plates

-Pencil

-Scissors and tape

-Plastic tub

-Rice

These STEM engineering and design challenges will bring Simple Machines and how each one works to life in your classroom! I have also included information pages about each type of simple machine!

Time to engineer those Simple Machines!
