Description

Nonfiction text structure is such an important part of helping our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students understand nonfiction texts. This set of nonfiction text structure posters will help your students learn how to identify and understand the five most common types of informational text structures.  Each poster clearly defines and describes a single text structure using student-friendly language and provides students with a visual and a list of keywords that will help them learn how to identify the text structure when they are reading independently.

Planning and creating anchor charts for your reading lessons can take so much time. Think about how much time you’ll save not having to create an anchor chart for your lessons on text structure. These ready-to-print anchor charts will serve as the backbone to your lessons on nonfiction text structure.

EACH ANCHOR CHART INCLUDES:

  • A student-friendly definition of the text structure
  • An image or visual example of that text structure
  • A list of key words that are usually associated with that text structure
  • Questions to ask when reading that text structure.

All the information included on the anchor charts will help your students to identify and understand text structures when they read nonfiction texts.

HERE’S WHAT YOU GET:

In this resource, you’ll get 5 anchor charts to help you teach your students all about nonfiction text structure. The posters are formatted in the following ways:

  • Half-page anchor charts - perfect for students journals
  • Full page anchor charts - works great for whole group lessons
  • Digital version - created using Google Slides
  • FIll-in version - available for both the half-page and full-page versions and are great if you want your students to take notes during the lesson

LOVED BY BOTH TEACHERS AND STUDENTS:

Your students will love having access to these anchor charts during the year. They won’t feel the pressure to remember all the different details or key words associated with each text structure because they know they can look back in their journals anytime they need a reminder.

You’ll love these anchor charts because they have easy-to-read font and are written with clear and concise language. Your students will understand the different types of text structure with these anchor charts.

So many upper elementary teachers love these anchor charts because they aren’t cluttered with excess clipart or fonts that are too “cutesy”.

And, you have options. You can choose to print them in half pages for students to glue in their journals… or you can share them with your students in Google Classroom… or you can give students the fill-in version so they can take notes during your lessons. You can pick the version that will work for you and your students.

Prep is quick and easy... Just print the anchor chart option you want to use before your reading lesson and you’re ready to go.
