The neurodiverse affirming movement is a human rights movement led by autistic adults. It reframes autism as a difference and NOT a disorder. People exist, communicate, experience, play, think, and learn in different ways and this can be embraced and celebrated. The language that we use to describe difference holds significance and impacts the way we think about it. Autistic people have asked that we change our language to be more affirming of neurodiversity.
Made by a speech-language pathologist. ND affirming because this information has been informed directly by the voices of autistic people.
