Description

This personal narrative writing unit is CCSS aligned for grades 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. In this file, you will get:

--An outline of the specific CCSS covered

--A detailed 3 week lesson plan

--Anchor papers to help students see what quality personal narrative writing pieces look like or for the teacher to use as his/her own to model the writing process day-by-day

--A brainstorming web for pre-writing

--A sequencing graphic organizer

--A rough draft template

--A word choice menu to help students use strong verbs, interesting adjectives, specific nouns, and descriptive language to overall develop word choice

--"2 Stars and a Wish" peer revising form

--A personal narrative writing student self-evaluation

--A personal narrative writing rubric

--Examples of the brainstorming web, graphic organizer, etc. in relationship to the anchor papers to show students as examples or to be used by the teacher as his/her own to model

--2 different syled book covers to use to make class books

This unit was designed with student investment, engagement, and self-assessment in mind.
