Morning Bins provide a hands-on option to morning work and can turn those busy, hectic mornings into meaningful and independent practice! Morning Bins are the perfect way to wake up those little minds. They can also be used for extra practice or early finishers!

No grading, no pressure, just fun and engaging practice!

What included in the May/June Morning Bins?

Each monthly theme will include 20 skills. The monthly skills stay the same throughout the months, but the activities change to provide students with more challenging activities.

Skills included in the May/June Morning Bins:

  • Parts of Speech - Students will read each word and decide if it is a concrete noun or an abstract noun.
  • Capitalization, Punctuation & Proofreading - Students will read the sentence and decide if the possessive is correct or incorrect.
  • Word Use & Meaning-Students will read the sentence and decide which figure of speech is used.
  • Sentences- Students will read the sentence and decide which pronoun agrees with the antecedent to complete the sentence.
  • Prefixes & Suffixes- Students spin a root word and a suffix to make a new word.
  • Text- Students will read each paragraph and decide which order they should be to make a complete story.
  • Spelling Patterns- Students will roll a die, read a word and decide which vowel in the word makes a schwa sound.
  • MultiSyllabic Words- Students will read the beginning of the word and decide which final syllable of tion or sion to use.
  • Writing- Students will flip a sentence starter, spin the spinner and finish the sentence using the coordinating conjunction.
  • Logic and Critical Thinking- Students will read the word and rearrange the letters to make a new word that matches the picture.
  • Multiplication- Students will follow the distributive property of multiplication to solve the multiplication problem.
  • Division & Relationship to Multiplication-Students will read the division equation and decide if it is true or false.
  • Add & Sub within 1000- Students will decide what the rule is for the input and output.Then they will use the rule to fill in the missing numbers.
  • Math Fluency- Students will look at the multiplication equation and decide if it is true or false.
  • Math patterns & Word Problems- Word Problems: Students will read the 2-step word problem and decide which operations they need to solve it.
  • Place Value- Students will look at the sum and arrange the digits to make the addition problem true.
  • Fractions & Shapes- Students will look at the shape and decide which categories the shape fits into.They will mark all that apply.
  • Time, Data & Money- Students will spin the spinner, tally and graph the results and answer the questions.
  • Measurement, Area & Permitter- Students will write the perimeter and area for a rectangle and find another rectangle that has the same perimeter or area.
  • Critical Thinking- Students complete the sudoku puzzle so that each row, column and box has numbers 1-6.
