Description

This is a great addition to your Matariki 2017 resource and the nine Matariki pou posters.

Through the process of observing, discussing and creating a poupou ākonga will make connections with the symbols, content, patterns and importance of this Māori art medium.
Before the era of photography these pou recorded and represented important ancestors, events and tribal stories in the medium of whakairo (carving).
This beautiful art form still remains and modern-day interpretations continue to amaze viewers with their visual stories.
